Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services exceed what the earth can regenerate in the given year. This year we reach our global limit on the 22nd of August. Jenni Puroila, PhD student at Misum, emphasises in her research the many ways nature impacts us and our well-being, and why we need a re-thinking of our valuation of landscapes and land use in both environmental and social terms.

The World Economic Forum (WEF), one of the most important global platforms for business and economic policy coordination, has published a Misum-written article this week, emphasising the need to tackle the pandemic's major sustainability threats.

A new article from Enrico Fontana, Affiliated Researcher at Misum and lecturer at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) investigates the main drivers of transgender discrimination in the Bangladeshi apparel industry. As part of 'Sweden through the crisis', the newly released Covid-19 report from the Stockholm School of Economics, a transdisciplinary team of Misum researchers has explored previous health crises in order to identify sustainability pathways for industry and development policymakers dealing with socio-economic fallout.
