Christopher Kummelstedt’s PhD project is supported by Johan & Jakob Söderbergs Stiftelse and investigates how organizations can help employees and managers cope with radical decentralization. The project employs a comparative case study approach to analyze which methods are used to organize strategy formulation, performance management, resource and personnel allocation and hiring, without relying on formal authority. The project is based on case studies of ten Swedish organizations, with a particular focus on the three most successful examples of this mode of organizing. A first publication from the project is expected during 2019.
