CIVICA European Week 2025

Earlier this summer, undergraduate students from across the CIVICA alliance of European universities gathered at SNSPA in Bucharest for European Week 2025.
Earlier this summer, more than 70 bachelor students from eight CIVICA partner universities came together in Bucharest for a week-long program exploring the theme "Youth Power! Looking into a More Inclusive Future".

"There were many opportunities to connect with other people, from students and faculty at other universities around Europe to policymakers, entrepreneurs, and locals in Bucharest. Meeting all these people was a highlight of the week,” says SSE student Erik Lidman Hillbom.

Throughout the week, students collaborated in transnational teams during a hackathon, developing creative solutions to challenges like misinformation, digital healthcare, and sustainable urban spaces. Each challenge required an interdisciplinary approach, blending policy, technology, and community engagement to develop innovative, actionable solutions for a more resilient and inclusive Europe.

One of the things the attendees found most rewarding was getting to connect with other students who share a passion for shaping society through policy, sustainability, and digital governance.

"CIVICA gave me not just a deeper understanding of EU governance and Romania’s evolving role in it - but also a renewed sense of why policy matters, and how we as students can help shape what comes next," says Fleur Caillé Méaulle from IE University.

The CIVICA European Week is both a stand-alone learning event and a core component of the CIVICA Engage Track: a multi-campus, interdisciplinary bachelor experience offered across eight CIVICA partner universities. SSE serves as the lead institution coordinating the Engage Track within the CIVICA alliance.
