New incoming exchange students
Before the start of the studies
In the welcome letter you will receive a link to an online registration form that needs to be filled out. Nominated students going to SSE for the spring semester will be invited to fill in our online registration form in October/November. Students coming in fall term will be invited to fill in the registration form in April.
The admission letter will be sent automatically to you once we have reviewed your registration to the exchange program.
The course registration will be open between November 15 - December 5 (Swedish time). Read more below about what courses are available.
Depending on your country of origin, you might need a residence permit to come to SSE. Please, refer to the Swedish Migration Agency’s website to read what applies to your specific case.
At SSE we have a small housing office that offers rooms and apartments to some of our international students. There is no guarantee for housing, we recommend you to check other possibilities for accommodation. See the menu on the right ("Housing") to view the available options. The application is open for two weeks. The application link will be emailed to the nominated students.
It is very important that you purchase a travel insurance that covers your trip and ensure that you have valid medical insurance covering your whole stay in Sweden. EU/EEA students should make sure they bring a European Health Insurance Card from their home countries or, alternatively, bring the terms and conditions for a fully comprehensive private health insurance policy.
We are welcoming all our exchange students at SSE with a full day of activities January 16. The introduction day is mandatory for all students and it is officially your first day at SSE, so please mark your calendar already now.
The student association at SSE (SASSE) is organizing the social activities during the first days, do not miss all the fun!
Academic calendar 2022-23
Register for courses
One semester of full time studies corresponds to 30 credits (ECTS). The semester is divided into two study periods, each of them ending with an exam week. Through the course web, students sign up for courses and view their schedules.
SSE has a computerized system for registration to courses, seminar groups and exams: the SSE portal. This system also enables students to check their grades and make printouts of these. Log in details enabling access to the SSE portal will be sent to you before course registration opens.
Unfortunately courses may collide and we therefore recommend you to try to choose a combination of courses that do not clash too much. Please check the exam schedule to make sure the exams do not collide.
You are only allowed to register for two courses per period, three if one of them is a language course. If you wish to add a third course (which is not a language course) you will have to send an e-mail to your exchange program manager.
Students enrolled in a 3-year Bachelor's program at their home university are welcome to follow 3-digit courses from the 3rd year of the Bachelor's program. Remember to check the exam schedule and the language of instruction; since these courses are part of the SSE Bachelor's program, the exam schedule might differ slightly from the Master's program.
Students enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate program and are on their 4th year of studies at their home university, they might be able to follow courses at SSE on both BSc and MSc level. Please contact your exchange program manager for more information.
