Blome, Constantin
Constantin Blome is an internationally leading researcher in the area of supply chains. The main motive of his research is exploring contemporary supply chain phenomena in their real-life/ industry context. In the House of Innovation he jointly tries to push the boundaries of sustainable supply chain research, examining transient/ newly emerging supply chain phenomena. He published his research in the top empirical supply chain journals and his research is highly cited and won several international awards (eg. 3 x highly cited international scholar).
Before his time at SSE, Constantin was the Dean/ Rektor of Lancaster University Leipzig, Germany, Associate Dean/ Head of Department at University of Sussex, UK, GSK Endowed Chair Professor, then Kronos Group Endowed Chair at UCLouvain, Belgium, Assistant Professor for Sourcing in Emerging Markets, EBS Business School, Germany. In addition, he held several prestigious visiting positions or adjunct lectureships at, for example, M.I.T., Wilfrid Laurier University, Michigan State University, IIM Bangalore, Lomonosov University, Vlerick, EDHEC, Audencia, Bologna Business School, Xi'an Jiaotong. Over the course of his career he gave keynotes/ research workshops at 70+ universities and 20+ conferences on all continents.
With respect to industry, Constantin is involved in two start-ups/scale-ups: n-side (Belgium) and Procurence (Poland). N-side is a a hidden champion for sustainable decision making and Procurence is a leading provider for a global procurement portal.
Over the years, Constantin was active in most of the boards of the leading academic societies in the supply chain field (EurOMA, POMS, DSI, AoM) and co-organized several leading conferences. He was for 7 years Co-Editor of the International Journal of Operations & Production Management and still serves as their Consulting Editor. In addition he serves as DE for Decision Sciences Journal, AE for Journal of Operations Management/ Journal of Supply Chain Management.
Constantin is also affiliated with Louvain School of Management/ CORE, UCLouvain, Belgium.
Before his academic career, Constantin was a supply chain consultant in Switzerland. His PhD is granted from Technical University of Berlin, Germany.
