SITE participates in an international research project on social entrepreneurship

Application of business tools to achieve social objectives and challenges has been in the spotlight when discussing social entrepreneurship. Seforis is a multidisciplinary project that combines insights from social businesses, policy makers and scholars with cutting-edge academic research to build robust and novel evidence on social entrepreneurship.

The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) is one of the research institutes participating in project Seforis. Seforis is a multi-disciplinary international research project on social entrepreneurship funded by the European Commission that aims to better understand the role that social enterprises play in the EU and beyond in the development and evolutions of inclusive and innovative societies.

The Seforis project began in January 2014 and will run until the end of April 2017.  During the project various research and working papers on key processes within social enterprises including the organisation and governance, financing, innovation and behavioural change, and investigation of the formal and informal institutional context will be carried out. SITE is mainly responsible for developing a novel framework of financing modes and models for social entrepreneurs, gathering evidence on the specifics of funding for social entrepreneurs and developing deep cases on social entrepreneurship examining the financing forms. All relevant research publications on the financing of social entrepreneurships will be published on SITE’s website.
