Keynote: Christina Garsten on Climate Governance and Think Tanks

Christina Garsten, Professor of Social Anthropology, delivered a keynote on 4 December 2025 titled Editing Climate Futures: Think Tanks and the Ecology of Ideas. During the lecture, she presented her research on how think tanks and policy experts influence climate policy through future scenarios and knowledge production.

Garsten emphasized that these actors are playing an increasingly important role in shaping global climate governance. One of her ongoing projects, Global Foresight, analyzes how think tanks and business-oriented organizations participate in the governance of climate issues—from policy design to lobbying efforts and strategic communication. According to Garsten, this reveals a rapidly changing landscape in which expertise, economic interests, and ideological visions are interwoven.

The keynote was held in connection with a workshop organized by Score, where researchers from Score and CSO (Centre de sociologie des organisations, Sciences Po) gathered in Stockholm on 4–5 December for discussions within three thematic panels: Governing Sustainability, Mobilizing Law, and Knowledge and Health.
