Exploring International Markets with Mateus Collection

Retail Management students in Entrepreneurship & Family Business Retail Club took part in an interactive workshop with Mateus Collection focused on international market expansion.

The day began with a visit to the Mateus flagship store at Karlavägen 64, where Filippa Burenstam Linder, CMO and second-generation leader at Mateus, welcomed the students. She introduced the company's story, its unique fusion of Portuguese handmade craftsmanship and Scandinavian design, and the workshop challenge on how to successfully enter a new international market.

Back at SSE, the students worked in groups to develop recommendations on market entry modes, brand communication of the “Beauty of Imperfection” and logistics for the broad assortment of products, while maintaining the brand's premium positioning and authentic craft heritage.

The groups in the end presented their well-crafted strategies to Filippa, followed by an engaging discussion and constructive feedback. It was a valuable experience seeing the students apply their retail knowledge to a real premium brand case.
