The Services sector could provide a possible transition to a green economy within the EU. This Policy Brief produced for the EU Parliament Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) tries to answer the question: How can the services sector contribute to the green transition, specifically in the digital area and taking into account the environmental footprint of the sector as well as its potential to replace environmentally harmful practices?

The brief also offers a set of policy recommendations. Services will be a vital part of the economy driving digitalization, internationalization and reducing uneven regional economic development. Services can also facilitate increased productivity and reduced environmentally harmful practices within the manufacturing industry.
