The Future of Health

Annemieke Ålenius

Deputy Director General at the Swedish eHealth Agency

Since 2018, Annemieke has served as Deputy Director General at the Swedish eHealth Agency and as Senior Advisor to the Director General. She is one of Sweden’s two representatives in the EU eHealth Network and has been appointed as an expert to both AI Sweden and the Government-appointed National Coordinator for Digital Infrastructure in Healthcare.

Annemieke chairs the National Board for Interoperability in Healthcare and is President of the Nordic Council of Ministers' eHealth Group. From 2022 to 2024, she was the Government’s Special Inquirer on enhancing interoperability within the healthcare sector.

With extensive expertise in eHealth and deep knowledge of the Swedish healthcare system, Annemieke focuses on key issues such as interoperability, primary and secondary use of health data, and remote monitoring.

Previously, she was responsible for the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record system in Uppsala County (2013–2018). Prior to that, she served as Chief Administrative Officer at Uppsala University Hospital (2000–2013), where she was also a member of the Board of Directors.

Her international experience includes serving as Sweden’s National Expert on Science and Technology Indicators at the OECD, and as Vice-Chair of the Working Group on Statistics for the Information Society for three years.

Annemieke holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Until recently, she was a member of the Executive Board of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Stockholm.

   

Markus Cederlund

Chief Product & Development Officer at Tobii Dynavox

As Chief Product & Development Officer at Tobii Dynavox, the market leader in assistive communication, Markus leads a global and multi-disciplinary product development organization that empowers people with disabilities to communicate. Markus is part of the executive management team at Tobii Dynavox and has more than 20 years of experience in product and tech leadership positions.

He previously worked for St. Jude Medical, and later joined Tobii AB to lead a successful, multi-site R&D organization, driving innovation in eye-tracking technology. Markus has a Master of Science in Computer Science from KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, in Stockholm, Sweden.

Panos Constantinides

Professor of Digital Innovation at Alliance Manchester Business School

Panos Constantinides is Professor of Digital Innovation at Alliance Manchester Business School. His research is divided into two broad topics: human-AI collaboration; the strategy and governance of digital platform ecosystems. His research has been published in world elite journals such as Information Systems Researchand MIS Quarterly, among others. Panos is the author of the book Digital Transformation in Healthcare: An Ecosystem Approach that has received endorsements from business school academics, chief executives in healthcare and technology consulting. He regularly advises senior business leaders, public sector officials and policy makers on how to manage the transition to new technologies and new business models in the digital economy.

Peter Kjäll

HealthTech Lead at TechSverige, PhD Medical Sciences

Peter Kjäll holds a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences and working at the intersection of digital health, HealthTech, and healthcare transformation. His expertise spans medtech, biotech, AI, welfare technology and eHealth, with a strong focus on policymaking, commercialization, value creation, and implementation. With experience in risk assessment from a venture capital perspective and international matchmaking across academia, industry, and healthcare, he is committed to accelerating the adoption of technological innovations that shape the future of healthcare.

As Healthtech Lead at TechSverige, he is actively working with enterprise politics and policymaking to create the best conditions for the industry.

TechSverige is an industry and employer organization for all companies in the tech sector, with the task of creating, together with the members, the best possible conditions for a competitive Swedish tech industry.

Robert Svebeck

AI Innovation Development Officer at Karolinska Institutet

Robert Svebeck is an innovation and digitalization leader with 25+ years of experience driving digital transformation across healthcare, public sector, SME and enterprise environments. Currently working with AI Innovation at Karolinska Institutet at the Centre for AI Innovation, he specializes in translating emerging technologies into real business value. Robert has founded multiple companies and co-founded several digital platforms. His expertise spans AI/ML strategy, solution architecture, and cross-functional leadership in complex organizational settings.

Stina Perdahl

Chief Medical Officer at Platform24

Stina Perdahl, specialist in general practice, is Chief Medical Officer at Platform24 - a health tech company delivering communication platform to a large share of public and private health care in Sweden and the Netherlands. Educated at Karolinska Institute, she has extensive clinical experience from many years in primary health care. Since 2020 Stina has been involved in developing health tech at Platform24 and medical devices such as Digital Triage and Remote Patient monitoring under MDR, handling both implementation of new technology in health care as well as new regulations such as MDR and AI act.   

   

Åsa V. Johansson

Head Secretary at Government Offices of Sweden (Regeringskansliet)

Åsa works on behalf of the Government Offices and together with the National coordinator Tomas Werngren. In her role, she works with the coordination for a national digital infrastructure in healthcare. Their mission is to prepare stakeholders for the introduction of the national infrastructure and for the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Through the EHDS, patients themselves will be able to enter data from wellness applications into their medical records. It affects both patients as well as healthcare professionals and it creates opportunities as well as it raises questions.

Anna Essén

Session Moderator

Anna Essén is an Associate Professor at SSE House of Innovation. She is committed to the study of how digital technology is shaped by and shapes what individuals, organizations, and societies focus their attention on, find it worthwhile to aim for and feel capable of achieving. Ongoing research studies cross-sectorial innovation of autonomous transport in smart cities and solutions for preventive health, and the regulation of digital health platforms and biobanks. Anna also leads projects about organizational ignoring and whistleblowing. Ongoing research studies the neglect of unjust consequences of algorithmic decision making in public sector, the dismissal of warnings about unethical behavior in health care organizations, and the evolving conflict battles following whistleblowing.

Camilla Häggroth

Chief HR Officer at Fonus Group

Camilla Häggroth is Chief HR Officer at Fonus and Familjens Jurist, where she is responsible for HR, sustainability, and the company’s group-wide client contact center. She has over 25 years of experience in HR, with a strong focus on organizational development, leadership, and change management in both large international companies and her current Swedish-based role. In parallel with her executive work, she is an industry-employed PhD student in informatics at ITE, Halmstad University. Her research investigates how AI and emerging technologies can expand access to justice and examines their organizational, legal, and societal implications.

Jonas Beskow

Co-Founder at Furhat Robotics & Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology
Jonas Beskow is Professor of Speech Communication, specialising in Multimodal Embodied Systems at KTH in Stockholm, and a co-founder and Senior R&D Engineer at Furhat Robotics. Jonas research interests encompass modelling, synthesis, and understanding human communicative signals and behaviours, including speech, facial expressions, gestures, gaze, sign-language, and the dynamics of face-to-face interaction. Specifically, he is passionate about integrating all these elements into machines and embodied agents, both physical and virtual, to enable more engaging and dynamic interactions.

  

Juliane Reinecke

Professor of Management Studies at Saïd Business School (University of Oxford)

Juliane Reinecke uses qualitative methods to study desirable futures, transnational commons governance, multistakeholder collaborations, business sustainability, social movements, and time and temporality. Her work has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, and Organization Studies and Research Policy, among others. Juliane’s research has been recognized with multiple awards from the Academy of Management and other professional organizations. Juliane received her MPhil and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Previously, she held full professorships at King’s College London and the University of Warwick and a visiting professorship at Gothenburg University and Stockholm School of Economcis. She is a Fellow at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and Research Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School. She serves as a trustee of the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS). She currently serves as Associate Editor of the Academy of Management Journal

   

Marleen Huysman

Professor and Director of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Erling Persson Visiting Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics

Marleen Huysman is the Director of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Head of the department of Knowledge, Information and Innovation.

She studied Sociology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and has a PhD in Business Economics on the topic of Organizational Learning and IT at the VU University. Marleen has been assistant professor at the department of Work and Organizational Psychology, TU Delft and associate professor Business Administration at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Since 2006 she holds a chair in Knowledge and Organization at the School of Business and Economics. Marleen has been visiting scholar during her PhD at Stanford and in 2000-2001 she was a visiting scholar at the Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) group at Harvard Business School.

Marleen conducts research in the following overlapping fields of research, all related to the development and use of digital innovation: new ways of working, technology in practice, knowledge sharing, - coordinating, development and integration.

Her research has been published in various international journals and books and is a frequent speaker at academic and professional meeting in the field.

 

Frida Pemer

Frida Pemer is an Associate Professor at the Department of Management and Organization and House of Innovation at SSE. Her research centers on digital transformation and professional services, and she leads several research projects exploring the future of (human) experts and the future of work. She has been visiting researcher at Scancor, Stanford University, and at Saïd Business School, Oxford University. She is program director and teacher at SSE Executive Education and SSE in programs on digitalization and transformation.

Gislene Feiten Haubrich

Gislene is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at SSE House of Innovation. Previously, she completed a two-year postdoc at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (the Netherlands). She obtained her PhD (with honors) in Cultural Processes and Practices at the University Feevale (Brazil) with a focus on knowledge dynamics in coworking spaces. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting scholar at the Université de Strasbourg (France). Gislene's research explores the future of work, focusing on the interdependence between people, technology, and space. Specifically, she's interested in hybrid working situations - the ways that time and space are reshaped as people and screens come together in contemporary knowledge working practices. Her expertise encompasses a variety of qualitative methods (e.g., interviews, observations, photovoice, and archival data).

Andjela Kusmuk

VP of Product at Lolo Company

Andjela Kusmuk is a PhD student at the SSE House of Innovation. She started her esport career in the network team at Dreamhack and has a background building the legendary esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas, as well as investing in Godsent and Alliance and leading the Game Tech unit for Amazon. Andjela has a deep love for the scene and community, and her preferred poisons are Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft where she still leads raids casually.

Kelly Ong

Veteran Esports Leader, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Owner of Alliance

Kelly Ong is the CSO & Co-Owner of Alliance, one of Europe’s leading global esports organisations, and a true pioneer in the industry. She helped establish Alliance in 2012 and later gained experience at Twitch before returning in 2018 to drive the organisation’s profitability, financial stability, and international growth. She has also been instrumental in building long-term sponsorships and partnerships that underpin Alliance’s success. Kelly is widely recognised for advancing sustainability, diversity, and professionalism within the esports ecosystem.

Paolo Aversa

Professor of Strategy at King’s College London and Jonas Persson Visiting Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics
Paolo Aversa is Professor of Strategy at King’s College London and The Jonas Persson Visiting Professor at Stockholm School of Economics - Center for Sports and Business. His research interests relate to innovation and the evolution of industries and ecosystems. He usually focuses on technology-driven settings to explore phenomena such as radical innovations, digital transformation, and business models. He is interested in unusual empirical setting and considered one of the leading academic experts in the Formula 1 and motorsport industry, and in the use of sports data to advance management theory. He serves as Associate Editor at Journal of Management Studies. He is non-executive director and board member at Zonin1821, and strategy advisor at Remotis.com

Yacine Laghmari

Twitch Creator, Professional Player, and Developer

Yacine Laghmari is a Twitch creator, self-taught programmer, and former professional esports player. An early Twitch streamer, live since 2012, he has built one of Sweden’s largest channels, drawing up to 800,000 unique Swedish viewers aged 18–35 each year. His streams mix competitive gaming, live coding, and candid conversations about digital culture and the creator economy. With more than a decade on air, Yacine shares a ground-level view of how streaming, esports, and interactive media shape audiences, communities, and careers.

Stefan Haefliger

Session moderator

Stefan Haefliger is a Professor at SSE House of Innovation. In his research and teaching he focuses on co-creation strategies as well as regulation and organizational design in innovation processes. His current research on human-machine interaction focuses on automated feedback and the learning of professionals about how to work with and give autonomy to machines, in some cases allowing new ways of using information technology to re-define professional standards and practice. His research in technology strategy helps define optimal levels of modularity in product development and the role that machines and machine learning play in innovation management. Stefan’s research agenda spans the intersection of strategy and information systems and the role new technologies play in changing the workplace, from the making and breaking of rules to the digital infrastructure underpinning platforms and organizing.
