Alia Trabucco Zerán was born in Chile in 1983. She has an MFA in creative writing in Spanish from New York University and a PhD in Spanish and Latin American studies from University College London. She lives in Chile after many years abroad. Clean House is her second novel and it has been a huge success in Spanish-speaking countries. Her debut novel The Remainder was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize, and her When Women Kill, won the British Academy's award for best non-fiction book.
