Konsekvensanalys: Art and Digitalization

Bella Rune, artist and professor of Textile, Konstfack explored the impact of digitalization on art and culture in her lecture

Contemporary artist Bella Rune spoke about her installation Konsekvensanalys in the Board Room at SSE, part of the Board Room project. In the Art Talk, she let us enter into her digitized artistic universe, shared insights on the work and described how she uses technologies such as augmented reality in her art.

Bella Rune works with sculpture that often takes on performative character. She frequently works with tactile materials, including faux fur, wires colored with printer ink, silver-sprayed tree trunks and inflatable plastic. Rune’s choice of materials and often large-scale objects create an almost virtual experience in physical space, eliminating the immediate legibility of the space.

Bella Rune received her BA at Chelsea College of Art. Her recent exhibitions include Konsekvensanalys in Konstskogen (the Art Woods) in Uppsala, a permanent installation at Gävle Hospital, group exhibitions at Moderna Museet and Galleri Magnus Karlsson, solo exhibitions in Sweden and Mexico with Gallery Crystal and the collaboration Restaurang Allemansrätten with Jonas Nobel, Parkteatern and Mossutställningar. Previous exhibitions include a solo exhibition at Marabou Park and Ynglingagatan 1, as well as projects during the Istanbul Biennial. She is represented at Moderna Museet, Gothenburg Museum of Art and Malmö Art Museum, among other places.

Bella Rune is a professor of fine arts in textiles at Konstfack.

Art Division and SSE Art Initiative presented the lecture on art and digitalization with Bella Rune.in collaboration.
