The Research School in Accounting - FIRE
The research school in accounting, FIRE (Forskarskolan i redovisning) was founded 2015 in order to stimulate the development of accounting as an academic field. FIRE is funded by Jan Wallander & Tom Hedelius’ Foundations and Torsten Söderberg’s Foundation.
The research school in accounting, FIRE (Forskarskolan i redovisning), was founded by the Stockholm School of Economics together with Uppsala University, Stockholm University, and the University of Gothenburg to stimulate the development of accounting as an academic field.
FIRE is funded by the Jan Wallander & Tom Hedelius Foundation and the Torsten Söderberg Foundation.
Being part of the Research School in Accounting supports PhD students throughout their doctoral journey. As a participant, you become part of a network of PhD students and supervisors that serves as a natural and valuable component of the PhD process.
Conferences
FIRE organizes two conferences each year for participants in the research school.
At these conferences, PhD students have the opportunity to present their research in a constructive and supportive environment. Senior faculty from participating universities contribute with feedback and suggestions to strengthen the work.
The conferences also address preparation for careers after the PhD, recognizing the importance of professional development beyond doctoral studies.
PhD Courses
FIRE offers participants access to three specialized PhD courses in accounting, taught by leading international and Swedish researchers:

- PhD 307 Elements of Capital Markets Research in Accounting
- PhD 308 Qualitative Research in Accounting and Finance
