Seminar on Asia - Center for Asian Studies
Global politics are undergoing a rapid transformation, with rising protectionism, conflicts and growing tensions. China has become the world’s second largest economy and regional political power. The objective is to become a modern socialist power by the centenary of the People’s Republic in 2049. What does this policy goal mean for China’s foreign policy? In this seminar, Professor Kazuko Kojima will examine the strategic thinking China has developed in the areas of military and economic security. She will discuss China’s foreign policy strategy and what the implications are for the relations with Ukraine in particular.
Professor Kazuko Kojima, a professor of law at Keio University, is an expert on Chinese politics and diplomacy. She has published extensively on the topic and held visiting research positions at Peking University and Harvard University.
Professor Marie Söderberg, European Institute of Japanese Studies, Stockholm of Economics, will act as discussant.
