Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Creation
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Creation was established at the Stockholm School of Economics in 2001, based on a generous donation from the Familjen Stefan Perssons Stiftelse.
During the last ten years the funding for the center has been broadened and includes different private and public funding sources. The center takes a distinct Nordic approach to our research and other activities.
The aim of The Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Creation is to increase understanding and knowledge of entrepreneurship with a focus on startups, scale-ups and the role of different types of business ownership (e.g. business angels, venture capital, private equity, corporate and family ownership) on entrepreneurial processes. The goal is to make theoretical contributions to the research field of entrepreneurship in general as well as to strategy, management and corporate governance research through an exploration of different entrepreneurship contexts.
In addition to the theoretical contributions, the centers’ researchers engage extensively with practice and pursue an ambition to produce and diffuse research that is practically relevant. For instance, the center was instrumental in the establishment of the SSE Business Lab and Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship.
CEBC is a research center at SIR, Stockholm School of Economics Institute for Research. The SIR Foundation is a national research institute for the economic sciences, with a focus on Business Administration in the broadest sense.
