About the Live Project in Management

The SSE Live Project in Management is the backbone of the specialization in management and ends the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics, SSE’s flagship program. The project runs across two courses: Management: Operations and Management, and Management: Consulting and Change.

In these courses, students develop their understanding of two key aspects of business administration: how to design, run and improve operations and processes (by means of, e.g., lean thinking, quality management, agile, process re-engineering) and how to plan and implement organizational change (by addressing human, political and contextual issues).

The Live Project gives students the opportunity to apply their theory-based knowledge in a real-world setting and thereby develop their management skills. It gives you the opportunity to benefit from their commitment to learning and their ambition to become brilliant problem solvers and change agents.

What types of business challenges qualify?

All kinds of challenges that relate to your business processes, to their efficiency and efficacy, digitalization and sustainability. Any type of business process is eligible, from manufacturing to customer service, from product development to marketing, from logistics to HRM. Business processes exist in all functions, at all levels!

 

Below some examples of previous years' projects:

  • Redesign and digitalization of the credit process at a major Swedish bank
  • Customer flow analysis and store layout improvement for a leading furniture retailer
  • Analysis and improvement of inventory and supply chain dynamics for a lock producer
  • Application of lean principles at a hospital in Stockholm
  • Analysis and design of an innovation process in a financial services firm
  • Analysis and redesign of the digital innovation process for a telecom provider

Value

You are the client who assigns us a relevant business challenge that you are currently facing. It should be related to your business processes and operations, especially within digitalization and sustainability. 

A team of 5-6 SSE students, acting as consultants, will analyze your challenge, propose solutions, and design an implementation plan that addresses key issues related to managing change in your organization.

Timeline

January to May 2026

 

Key Dates:

  • December 1st: inform us of your interest to provide an SSE Live Project in Spring 2026
  • January 10th: send us a one-page max. description of the business challenge to be addressed in the Live project
  • January 23rd: one student team will be assigned to your Live project.
  • January - May 2026: the assigned student team works as consultants on your business challenge. The amount and frequency of interaction, the exact contents and the deliverables are decided by the client organization, in agreement with the team.
  • May 20th: the final deliverables are submitted and the Live project concludes.
