Social Innovation Scholarship 2022: Meet the winners!

This year’s Social Innovation Scholarship has been awarded to Lukas Uhrström, Ludvig Hartler and Jan-Hendrik Wieder. These students were awarded for their work with the Tutu Tribe Entrepreneurship Academy in Cape Town, South Africa. The scholarship will support them this summer while working for and supporting a social entrepreneur, leveraging their business skills to create positive change. Social innovation and social entrepreneurship are initiatives aimed to improve what is missing or not working in the social structure: new solutions, methods and ideas that create a sustainable society – economically, socially and ecologically.

In memory of Desmond Tutu – the South African bishop and prominent leader in the anti-apartheid movement – the Desmond Tutu Foundation in collaboration with Innovation City Cape Town presents the Tutu Tribe Entrepreneurship Academy. The Tutu Tribe aims to provide selected entrepreneurs and start-ups with a world-class program to realize their professional dreams and build great companies in an environment not associated with business success stories.

During their projects, Lukas Uhström, Ludvig Hartler and Jan-Hendrik Wieder gave hands on support to the Tutu Tribe Entrepeneurship Academy, developed networks, and learned from peer knowledge and sharing.

The jury committee congratulates the winners on their fantastic project to strengthen the entrepreneurial infrastructure of Innovation City, Cape Town.

The Social Innovation Scholarship is coordinated by House of Innovation, in collaboration with SASSE’s Entrepreneurship Society, and makes part of the outreach program of the Jacob & Marcus Wallenberg Center for Innovative and Sustainable Business Development.
