Bomi Kim

Assistant Professor - Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology

Bomi Kim is an Assistant Professor at the House of Innovation at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE).

Bomi conducted her PhD research at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds an MSc in Sociology (Research) from the University of Amsterdam and a BA in Sociology and Economics from Seoul National University. During her PhD, she was a visiting scholar at Cornell University.

As an ethnographer, Bomi draws on observations, interviews, and archival data to gain an in-depth understanding of the social worlds of her participants. Her research seeks to understand the impact of emerging digital technologies like artificial intelligence on how people work and organize in complex and collaborative settings such as healthcare. She draws on various streams of literature that best explains her empirical observations, including knowledge work, cross-disciplinary collaboration, sociology of professions, and science and technology studies. Her research has won the Best Student Paper Award in the CTO division at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in 2022.
