Watch our new video introducing "Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasion" - a new course for masters and CIVICA students to learn the history of rhetorics and the intricacies of persuasiveness.

The Center of Statecraft and Strategic Communication presents our latest elective, "Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasion." It introduces students to the classical rhetorical tradition, a cornerstone in the education of leaders across politics, public service, and business for centuries.

Divided into three comprehensive modules:

  1. Classical Theory: Read the foundational works of Aristotle, Cicero, and other esteemed thinkers, unveiling the timeless principles of persuasive communication.

  2. Historical Analysis: Explore pivotal speeches throughout history, spanning from the colonization of the Americas to contemporary debates on climate change and globalization, dissecting their impact and relevance.

  3. Practical Application: Equip yourself with the tools to craft compelling speeches and texts. With guidance from guest lecturers—renowned speechwriters and editorialists—students refine their persuasive prowess.

The course is offered in the fall semester and is open to masters and CIVICA students.
