Unique opportunities

The CIVICA Engage Track is for students with a strong civic engagement. It offers an unparalleled way for students to highlight their commitment to civic issues and contribute to the society together with a diverse set of ambitious students from all over Europe.

By combining academic study and social commitment, the selected students can explore and respond to value-laden topics like responsibility and sustainability. They do this through specific CIVICA Engage courses, international exposure, hands-on interaction with community-based organizations, and by sharing experiences and reflections with CIVICA Engage students and other audiences.

CIVICA Engage Track Components

The CIVICA Engage Track is made up of three key components:

European Week

The European Week is a one-week program that takes place once per academic year at one of the participating universities. This multifaceted program includes not only academic content but also active engagement with local organizations and issues and of course interaction and collaboration with other CIVICA Engage Track students.

The European Week leads to an attendance certificate.

IE University in Madrid will be the host of the European Week 2026.

Engage Courses

  • Elective courses offered at each institution
  • Course credits determined by home institution

The Engage courses are electives offered at each partner institution:

  • Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden
  • Bocconi University, Italy
  • Sciences Po, France
  • London School of Economics, UK
  • IE University Business School, Spain
  • Central European University, Austria
  • SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Poland
  • National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA), Romania

They allow for a distinct experience at each institution. It is compulsory for participants to complete at least one Engage course when they are on a semestrial exchange as part of the track.

Showcase Assignment

The Showcase Assignment is the final milestone for students participating in the CIVICA Engage Track. It is designed to highlight both personal growth and public engagement, and consists of two distinct components:

  1. Spread the Word (Public Component)

Students are invited to create a media piece that communicates their learning and insights to a broader audience. This piece can take various forms, such as a video, podcast, article or social media campaign. It should address a topic of relevance to European societies. The aim is to share the student’s unique perspective, shaped by their experience in the CIVICA Engage Track and their university education

  1. Reflective Component (Personal and Analytical)

The reflective component challenges students to undertake an analytical reflection of their personal learning experiences on the CIVICA Engage Track. They are encouraged to explore key moments of growth, identify strengths and areas for development, and consider how the Track has shaped their understanding of civic engagement and societal challenges in Europe.

Together, these components showcase the transformative impact of the CIVICA Engage Track and the student’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to public discourse and civic life.
