Jessica O’Mary new Vice President of External Relations at SSE

From January 2022, Jessica O’Mary has been appointed Vice President of External Relations at SSE. The previous Vice President, Katarina Hägg, has been appointed the new CEO of SSE Executive Education and is moving on to that position.

Jessica O’Mary has been at the Stockholm School of Economics for the past seven years, working as the Deputy Director of External Relations and as Head of Corporate, Development and Alumni Relations. While leading the team, she has increased alumni engagement, built key external relationships, and engaged donors and corporate partners in the internationalization and positioning of SSE. In addition, she initiated a successful, recurring annual fundraising campaign, and raised several major donations that support the teaching, research, and vison of the school. On a strategic level, she has been responsible for developing new ways of working and processes as well as driving important business improvements.

As VP of External Relations, Jessica will focus on leading and improving the areas within the department, including corporate relations, fundraising, communications, events, and career management. In addition, she will continue to play a vital role in the fundraising for SSE while ensuring the brand and reputation remains strong. SSE is working actively towards increased diversity and inclusion, which are also important issues that Jessica plans to focus on.

"I’m looking forward to playing an active role in the continued internationalization of SSE, and also to continue the focus on expanding opportunities and access for our students, faculty, staff and the community, at large. We have a wonderful team at External Relations, and I look forward to supporting them so that we can meet our goals", says Jessica.

"Jessica O’Mary fits perfectly as the new head of External Relations. Through systematic relationship building, sensitivity and drive, she has an impressive way that contributes to distinguishing SSE on the international map. I'm really happy that she's taking on this task", says Lars Strannegård, President at SSE.

Before Jessica came to SSE, she worked in philanthropy and fundraising in several organizations in her hometown of Austin, Texas, including her alma mater, The University of Texas at Austin.
