Re-thinking responsible management through conferencing differently

Colleagues at Aalto University, Helsinki, organized a wonderfully inspiring 𝑹𝒆-𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 workshop, a true space for thinking and writing differently on April 2nd and 3rd.

In the workshop, we experimented with collective key-noting, with practicing vulnerability and openness through theater, a silent walk in a nature sanctuary and spontanesous interactions. During the two days, we identified many ways in which the notion of responsible management needs to be rethought of for there to be real change.

For the participants, the role of us academics as educators and researchers is very much to shake and stir, not to lay low and look the other way. Challenging leadership and management groupthink, embracing a plurality of viewpoints and reframing our challenges with ambition and hope are promising ways to generate  and nurture new ideas and knowledge. Indeed, this spontanously organized seminar was so popular that it will be organized again in 2025.

Thanks to Ana Lafaire, Alice Wikström and Johanna Moisander for being such wonderful hosts!
