OFFTAKE – Requirements and commitments for scaling circular textile solutions
This project develops and tests the market arrangements needed to scale up textile reuse and recycling, supporting the transition towards a circular textile economy.
Circular textile solutions depend on reliable connections between producers, sorting and reuse operators, recyclers and customers. However, gaps in market coordination, purchasing commitments and technological adaptation constrain their development and expansion. Sweden’s emerging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system makes addressing these barriers increasingly important.
Working with partners across the textile value chain, OFFTAKE maps market needs and develops standardised requirements and commitments for reusable and recyclable textiles. The project tests and validates these arrangements to support viable circular markets and compatibility with the emerging Swedish EPR system. Its results will be made available as an open solution that Swedish producers can adopt.
