Fiskars Group enters partnership with SSE’s Center for Retailing
SSE is well-known for its focus on research and education within retail. Since its inception, the Center for Retailing at SSE has fostered a close collaboration with the retail industry, building long-standing and impactful partnerships.
“We are excited to welcome Fiskars Group as a Retail Club Partner within our Center for Retailing," says Professor Lars Strannegård, President at the Stockholm School of Economics. “Retail is one of our strategic focus areas and the partnership with Fiskars Group will enable us to further develop and strengthen our internationally leading position for industry collaboration and thought leadership in retailing.”
Fiskars Group is the global home of design-driven brands for indoor and outdoor living. Since 1649, the company has designed products of timeless, purposeful, and functional beauty, with a focus on innovation and sustainable growth. Its well-known brands include Fiskars, Gerber, Georg Jensen, Royal Copenhagen, Wedgwood, Moomin Arabia, Iittala and Waterford.
“When the opportunity arose to enter into a partnership with the Stockholm School of Economics, we immediately saw the value of participating. In the Nordics, where our strong brands such as Iittala, Rörstrand, and Moomin have a long tradition, we possess unique expertise spanning design and product development through the finished product and in store experience. Consumer insights and understanding of retail are central to this expertise. We work across the entire product lifecycle – from idea and design to recycling and reuse – and we are convinced that collaborations with students bring new perspectives and valuable knowledge. At the same time, we want to give students concrete insight into their future working life and show how the industry functions in practice,” says Tove Westermarck, SVP of IITTALA, Moomin and Nordic Brands.
Partnering for Sweden's future competitiveness
SSE’s Retail Management program is a three-year Bachelor’s degree in business and economics, designed with a strong focus on retail. The partnership includes collaboration around both research and education and means that Fiskars Group will host a Retail Club in SSE’s Bachelor program in Retail Management.
“It’s always inspiring to tap into students’ ideas and perspectives. CFR offers a uniquely effective way of connecting retail education with the realities of the business world, and we are proud to be a partner in this collaboration,” says Jyri Luomakoski, CEO & President of Fiskars Group.
"We are very pleased to welcome Fiskars Group as a Retail Club Partner,” says Professor Sara Rosengren, Head of the Center for Retailing. "Fiskars Group’s strong portfolio of design-driven indoor and outdoor brands provides a valuable complement to our existing partners. The collaboration will enrich both our research and educational activities and contribute to the continued development of the Center for Retailing as a platform for knowledge exchange between academia and practice"
