Students at the Stockholm School of Economics rate their education highest, a new survey shows

The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) ranks at the top when students in Sweden evaluate their own education. A new university barometer from the trade union Akavia shows that students rate their education highest at SSE, particularly when it comes to teaching quality and the connection to working life – factors that play a key role in future careers.

The university barometer is the first of its kind from Akavia and is based on survey responses from a total of 3,500 student members. The survey measures students’ own experiences across three factors: overall satisfaction, lecture quality, and connection to professional life.

The results show that SSE students rate their education highest, followed by Lund University and Karlstad University. SSE also ranks highest in all three subcategories.

“It is very encouraging that our students say they receive a high-quality education – it shows that we are on the right track,” says Pär Åhlström, Vice President Degree Programs at SSE.

Strong connection to working life

A central part of SSE’s education is its close collaboration with the business community. Students regularly meet guest lecturers from companies and organizations, work on real-life cases, and establish early contact with potential employers.

“We want students to feel confident when transitioning from studies to work. That is why we integrate practical elements and external collaborations throughout the program,” Åhlström says.

This strong link to working life is also highlighted in the survey as one of the areas where SSE receives particularly high ratings.

Focus on teaching quality

In addition to career relevance, the results point to high ratings for lecture quality. SSE actively develops its teaching through small class sizes and close interaction between students and faculty.

This creates a learning environment where students not only acquire knowledge but also develop analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Akavia’s results clearly show the value this brings students, seeing as teaching quality is a key factor in their overall impression.

The survey shows that students are not only looking for a high academic standard, but also for an education that clearly leads into working life. In this regard, SSE stands out.
