Invitation to attend SITE Development day 2017: Financing for development

The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs have the pleasure to invite you the Development Day 2017 conference on May 31 at the Stockholm School of Economics.

At the Third International Conference on Development Finance in Addis Ababa on July 13-16, 2015, the world committed itself to an action agenda to raise resources to realize the 2030 sustainable development goals. This action agenda emphasizes the importance to include not just the donor community in the effort, but also the private sector and partner country governments. The theme for this year’s Development Day is a follow up on where we stand now, 2 years later. Has the momentum created at the high level meeting in Addis led to any significant initiatives, any discernible change? In particular, we will focus the day on how to enlist more private capital flows and how to make sure they are socially and environmentally sustainable.

The event is well timed as it comes right after the 2017 Economic and Social Council forum on financing for development at the UN. As part of the conference the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will present the Swedish government’s plan as presented at the UN, and also give some reflections on what happened at the UN meeting.

Please see the conference program and announced speakers below. We are looking forward to a lively discussion. RSVP until the end of May 29 using the Eventbrite registration form below or via email: gun.malmquist@hhs.se, phone: 08-736 96 72.
