Open seminar at Score

Welcome to a seminar on Thursday, 11 June, 2026, at 15:00, with Martin Kornberger, Professor of Ethics at Vienna University of Economics and Business. The seminar will end around 16:30 and will be followed by refreshments hosted by Score.

Ethics in the Wild: How Organizations Learn to Do Good
This talk is based on a research program that investigates the conditions of the possibility of organizational ethics. To address moral challenges, organizations must develop the capacity for moral action. Drawing on pragmatist philosophy and, more specifically, on the concept of moral imagination, Martin Kornberger analyses this organizational capacity building as moral learning. The framework of moral learning is a heuristic that might help navigating our morally challenging times. The talk itself is designed as conversation to spark curiosity, not closure and discussion, not definite answers.

Martin Kornberger’s academic career has taken him to universities in Australia (University of Technology, Sydney), Denmark (Copenhagen Business School), France (Emlyon Business School), and Scotland (University of Edinburgh). During his time in Australia, he also built up a successful consulting firm. In numerous articles and books (most recently Distributed and Collective Action: Connecting the Dots, Oxford University Press, 2022) he explores strategies for collective action, new organizational architectures and their moral implications. In March 2022, his most recent book was published in German: Systemaufbruch. Strategie in Zeiten maximaler Unsicherheit - Die Wiederentdeckung von Clausewitz.
