FORMAS awards major grant to three MISUM affiliates for climate policy and green transition research

A research team from the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, in collaboration with the Research Department of Sveriges Riksbank, has been awarded a FORMAS research grant of SEK 19.6 million (approximately €1.79 million).

The project, “The effect of climate policy and financing on firms’ green transition,” is part of a broader research agenda on Productivity and the Climate Transition led by MISUM Affiliates Per Strömberg (SSE), Christian Thomann (KTH) and Gustav Martinsson (SU).

The project examines how climate policy and financial markets can support the transition to a more sustainable economy. Using detailed microdata, the team will study how carbon pricing and other abatement regulations influence firms’ investment, production and financing decisions, as well as impacts on biodiversity. The project also includes the development of a web-based infrastructure to provide policymakers and macro-modelers with high-quality estimates of industry responses to climate regulation.
