Swedish Radio’s program Sommar i P1 is a long-running and popular radio program that has been broadcasted every summer since 1959. Each episode features a guest host- known as a Sommarpratare (summer speaker) who is invited to share their personal thoughts and stories with millions of listeners. 

On the 25th of July, Carl Folke, one of the world's most cited researchers, was featured on the program. He shares his reflections in a poetic way on the biosphere, humanity’s role on Earth, and the path toward a brighter and more sustainable future. He highlights the deep interconnection between humans, nature, and the thin, life-supporting layer of our planet. With a focus on resilience, he addresses climate change and biodiversity loss as symptoms of human impact. But Folke also offers hope. He emphasizes that change is already underway but also that action is being taken, inspiring a sense of responsibility and possibility.
