The conversation will be held in English and led by a book circle leader, Staffan Alsparr, and a student.

Come join the conversation.

Hyper follows an uprooted Kurdish family who fled Tehran after the father becomes a political refugee in the 1970s, tracking his three children as they navigate lives consumed by capitalism across London, Dubai, and New York.

Agri Ismaïl is a Swedish-Kurdish author based in Sweden who has worked as a corporate lawyer in London, Dubai, and Iraqi Kurdistan. Hyper is his debut novel, published in January 2024 in both Swedish and English. Ismaïl's background as both a corporate lawyer navigating global finance centers and a writer gives him distinctive insight into the themes of capitalism, diaspora, and statelessness that define Hyper, which has been praised as a brilliant satire of contemporary life and hailed as one of the most perceptive debuts in recent literature.

Open for all: you don´t have to be a member of Literary Agenda to attend.

January 28, 17.15-18.15 in room 350 (The Lobjär Room)
