What significance does art have for humans and the society we live in? Karolina Modig and Erik Modig have written the book "Värdet av konst - för hjärnan, samhället och livet" (Art & the Brain, Society and Life). Drawing on studies from interdisciplinary fields such as psychology, neuroaesthetics, economics, art history and many more, they discuss what impact art can have on the society we live in; within business, for healthcare, education and democratic dialogue – and not least for our own thinking and emotional life.

Karolina Modig is a journalist, editor, lecturer, moderator and author. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of the digital culture magazine Art Notes (artnotes.se), editor for Icon Magazine and writes regularly for Dagens Nyheter. She also works as an editor for books and other publications issued by, for example, the Swedish Public Art Agency, Moderna Museet and Göteborg Konst. In 2015 she published the book Hang Art Low.

Erik Modig (PhD) conducts research in consumer psychology at the Stockholm School of Economics. His research examines how communication and marketing affect people, as well as how companies and organizations should communicate to get their messages across. His has written Bang for the Buck, which addresses brand and communication strategy. Erik has run a gallery in Södermalm in Stockholm and has also been active as an artist himself.
