The household sector’s exposure to financial risk
SHoF hosted a seminar on the household sector’s exposure to financial risk featuring experts from academia, policy, and the private sector.
High household debt ratios can be a systemic risk when interest rates rise, and some groups of borrowers may be more exposed than others. The seminar will explore these issues from multiple perspectives.
Our lineup of speakers includes Swedish House of Finance's Paolo Sodini, Professor of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics who has conducted research in this field; Henrik Braconier, Chief Economist at Finansinspektionen, who will be sharing the latest findings from a report on risks in the housing sector; Jörgen Kennemar, Senior Economist at Swedbank, and Shoka Åhrman, Savings Economist and Strategist at the insurance company SPP, who will provide insights from the private sector.
The seminar came a week after Finansinspektionen publishes their annual mortgage market report. It was held in English and moderated by Peter Englund, Professor Emeritus, Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics.
