Call for papers: SHoF Annual Conference on the Future of Private Capital Markets

The Swedish House of Finance (SHoF) at the Stockholm School of Economics is pleased to invite interested academics and practitioners to a conference on the future of private capitalmarkets on August 24 and 25, 2026, in Stockholm.

The conference will bring together leading academics, investors, business leaders, and policymakers to discuss recent research and emerging trends shaping the future of private capital markets. The program will feature keynote addresses by Steve Kaplan (University of Chicago Booth School of Business) and David Scharfstein (Harvard Business School), alongside presentations of selected papers from this call.


Call for papers

We invite submissions of high-quality theoretical and empirical research on financial and economic issues related to private equity and private credit, including (but not limited to) the following topics:

• Private equity and private credit market structure
• Private capital strategies and performance
• The interaction between private and public capital markets
• Private capital and corporate investment, productivity, and innovation
• Structured lending within the private market
• Fund organization, governance, and incentives
• Financing of infrastructure and energy transition
• Risk-taking and financial stability implications
• The role of private capital in downturns and periods of financial stress
• Regulatory and policy implications of the growth of private markets
• ESG, sustainability, and impact in private capital markets

The conference organizers will provide accommodation as well as reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses for presenting authors and discussants.


Paper submission

Interested authors should e-mail their paper in PDF format to Jenny Andersson, (Jenny.Andersson@hhs.se) no later than March 15, 2026. Program decisions will be made shortly thereafter.


Attendees

The conference welcomes academic participants who are not on the program, but cannot reimburse any expenses. There is no fee for the conference. However, attendance is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in attending,
