Money Markets in a New Era of Central Bank Policies
The Swedish House of Finance was pleased to invite interested academics and practitioners to a conference on “Money Markets in a New Era of Central Bank Policies” on August 23-25, 2021, in Stockholm
Throughout the 2008-2009 financial crisis and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, central banks over the world developed new—unconventional—monetary policy instruments. In the process, central bank balance sheets increased more than tenfold at a global level. This move broke with decades of tradition of low foot-print monetary policy practices and requires academics and market participants to update their conceptual frameworks of how monetary policy affects financial markets and the economy. This conference aims at engaging in this endeavor by bringing together leading scholars and practitioners with expertise on these developments.
The conference featured keynote presentations, panels with leading scholars, and presentations of academic papers.
The program includes keynote addresses by
Darrell Duffie, Professor, Stanford University
Monika Piazzesi, Professor, Stanford University
Imène Rahmouni-Rousseau, Director General of Market Operations, European Central Bank
Hyunsong Shin, Economic Adviser and Head of Research, Bank for International Settlements
Izabella Kaminska, Financial Times moderated the panel discussions.
