There are two pivotal research areas that the future center will address:
- GOOD LIFE: HAPPINESS AND QUALITY OF LIFE
Fundamentally, a good life would “maximize the integral” with as much happiness and well-being as possible for as many years as possible. We aim to connect the research on happiness and well-being with research on quality of life, including work-life balancing, lifestyle, community —and how to prioritize health care, which has been highly topical and drawn to the forefront during the pandemic.
- TRULY GOOD ECONOMICS: NEW ECONOMIC MODELS OF PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION
A truly good economics perspective would spawn new economic models that offset decelerating GDP growth, reduce inequalities over time and domains, and promote new forms of livelihoods. This would include, for example, potential new economic production solutions (on both societal and organizational levels) that promote cost-reduced growth or increase it in other currency forms: time, energy, health, social It would also re-focus on socioeconomics and consumption for optimized or maximum happiness and well-being per cost, over life span, cycles, cohorts.
