Lukas Goretzki appointed SSE PRME Director

SSE is pleased to announce that Lukas Goretzki, Professor in management accounting and control is the new PRME Director.

Taking over from Laurence Romani, Lukas Goretzki assumes leadership of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative at SSE. PRME, established by the United Nations in 2007, is dedicated to promoting sustainability within educational institutions. By equipping business students with essential perspectives and skills, PRME empowers them to drive positive change. SSE has been a committed signatory of PRME since 2013, actively shaping responsible management practices. As part of the PRME Champions group, SSE continues to champion sustainability and ethical leadership.

Professor Goretzki’s research delves into the intersection of management accounting and human dynamics. He explores how accounting and control systems impact organizational and individual identities as well as performance across economic, environmental, and social dimensions. In his role as PRME Director, Professor Goretzki emphasizes critical reflection and responsible leadership. His vision extends beyond technical skills, aiming to shape future leaders who drive meaningful change and long-term positive impact.

Regarding his new position driving the PRME initative at SSE, Professor Goretzki commented:

“I am most inspired by PRME’s global network of schools committed to facilitating sustainable development and educating responsible future managers and leaders. Our dedication as scholars and educators to serving society and safeguarding our planet not only provides us with a powerful purpose but also serves as a compass guiding us in all teaching, research, and outreach activities. Another remarkable aspect of PRME is the strong commitment of its member organizations to knowledge sharing and collaboration.”

SSE looks forward to supporting Professor Goretzki, and the PRME team, in their work over the next two years.
