Gustav Hedström

Meet Gustav Hedström – Business Developer at Houdini Sportswear and BSc in Retail Management alum.

Describe your role and what it is that you do overall and on a day-to-day basis.

Business Developer at Houdini Sportswear, a Swedish innovative outdoor clothing company based in Stockholm. Responsible for the development of our circular business models. This include product as a service offering, our second hand concept Reuse and peer to peer solutions going forward.

What interested you about the field/company/role you are currently in?

For a long time, skiing and the outdoors has been a great passion of mine. Innovation has at the same time been something I have enjoyed working with so my role at Houdini is truly the perfect fit. I also wanted to work for a company that was true to its values, and also tries to contribute to a better world for real, not just talking about it.

How did your time/education at SSE help guide you to where you are now or the career journey you have embarked on?

Whenever I face a new challenge or task in the innovation process, I find myself thinking that “Oh I know a thing or two about this, I did this or have read research about this at SSE…” In addition, it’s always a plus to have amazing friends from SSE within the field that you can ask for advice or just get motivated by.

What advice would you give your younger self with all that you know now?

Find what you are interested in for real and try to get involved in that. It will help you see a purpose with what you are studying and doing.

What advice would you give to students considering applying to SSE?

Apply!! And try to make the time at SSE to your own, then you will have an enormous use of the time at SSE.
