Act for Access
This project focuses on improving the accessibility of digital financial services through the process of universal design. Our aim has been to collect valuable insights into problem areas of accessibility and possible solutions from the people who currently have problems accessing these services. This is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 10, and more specifically sub-goal 8:10, ”To strengthen the capacity of domestic financial institutions to encourage and expand access to banking, insurance and financial services for all”.
We have been in contact with 25+ organisations serving members to which financial services are not made accessible. They have contributed with insights from their experiences of interacting with these services. We’ve also been in contact with the banking sector and other relevant actors to discuss ways of implementing solutions. Our results are compiled in a digital “Best Practice” brochure which will be distributed to financial services providers. It contains 9 tangible and implementable measures through which financial services can be made more accessible, and an introduction to further complex problem areas of accessibility that need to be prioritized. Furthermore, the project has resulted in an opinion piece calling for action, and a summary of the relevant legal landscape and upcoming changes.
