Employer Branding at IKEA

SME Retail Club had an interesting theme lecture about Employer Value Proposition (EVP) and how IKEA works with employer branding.

Özlem Tan, the Talent Sourcing and EVP Leader at IKEA, held a theme lecture revolving around the main topic of employer branding and how is driven by both consumer and corporate brand. Tan continued by explaining that EVP is defined by a set of values and offerings that employers would like to be associated with. Furthermore, the lecturer emphasized how important it is for companies such as IKEA to think not only about attracting new talent but also work on keeping people within the company and building strong, long-term relationships with the employees.

Tan ended the presentation with a strong statement that is crucial within IKEA: “We believe that your work is more than a job”. An interesting discussion followed after the presentation, where students could get their questions answered. One of the questions raised and discussed was: “Measuring employer branding can be challenging, how is IKEA tackling this challenge when working with measuring employer branding?”
