Swedish Alliance for Women in Sport (SAFWIS)

The Center for Sports & Business has been a member of the Swedish Alliance for Women in Sport, SAFWIS, which is a platform that works for inclusion and increased equality in Swedish sports.

The initiators of SAFWIS were the Center for Sports & Business, Cruyff Institute, Elitfootball Dam, Girls in Sport, as well as the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences.

Overarching Goal

The overall goal is to make Swedish sports more inclusive and equal by uniting our competencies from different spheres in joint efforts.

Principles

We work for increased inclusion and gender equality in Swedish sports.

We act as a network for organizations, institutions and individuals who share this focus.

We see Swedish sport in a broad sense where both non-profit organizations and commercial actors contribute.

Activities

SAFWIS has carried out both national activites organized by SAFWIS centrally, and local activities organized by its members. All activities that they stand behind are based on their overall goal and principles.

Linnéa Claeson Appointed Female Role Model by SAFWIS

Linnéa Claeson received her diploma from Elin Wiklander at the Stockholm School of Economics on March 16, 2017.

Linnéa is one of Sweden's most prominent handball players. She has played three National championships with Skuru IK and won the World championships with both the Youth-18 and the Youth-20 national teams.

She has been subject to sexual harassment since the age of ten, and, unfortunately, the abuse only seems to escalate along with her successful career as a female athlete.

In order to enlighten the abuse of which she and many other women have been subject to on a daily basis, Linnéa started an Instagram account - Assholesonline - where she shares screen dumps of the conversations she has had with various men. She responds to the harassing comments with brilliant and disarming humor, and by so doing, takes control over the conversation and highlights the fact that the responsbility lies with men who approach her.

SAFWIS has appointed Linnéa to Female Role Model for the following reason:

"Linnéa Claeson is a striking rising handball star in Sweden who already has a Junior World Championship gold medal on her merit list. Linnéa has had the courage to fight online sexual harassment and is a true inspiration when it comes to standing up for yourself and for a more equal world."
