The Development of Civil Society in Times of Increased Distress: Enhanced Capacity Building to Bounce Back Better and Forward
This research builds on the results and findings from earlier studies, e.g. Styrning och kontroll i civilsamhället (Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, P15-0377-1) and Idéburen kraft för ett starkare samhälle (MSB 2021-04337).
About the project
The current study will however go deeper and beyond what we did in the other studies, with the explicit aim to identify a handful of significant cases in the participating organizations to study in detail. The selected cases will illustrate forms of organizational learning in the organizations during and between significant crisis situations.
Three topics of particular interest have been identified already in earlier research, which will be the core of the planned study: (1) New or changed internal routines or processes (including coordination and governance); (2) New methods or models being developed and implemented; and, finally (3) New external cooperation and networks being established or activated (with other CSOs or government actors - municipal, regional, state - and with for-profit corporations.
For all these three topics we will use the same type of broader two-pronged research question: What types of critical change have been institutionalized in the CSOs following from your efforts and experiences during earlier crisis and how did this implementation happen?
