YOYO - Yoga for the Youth
In today's society young people exercise less, spend more time on their phones and mentalillness among them has steadily increased.
With our project, we want to help improve both the psychological as well as the physical health among young people and hence contribute to reaching SDG 3 “Good health and well-being”. In collaboration with Sparks Generation, we have arranged an online yoga campaign targeting youths between 12 and 16 years. The project aims to raise awareness about yoga as well as inspire to practice it. The online campaign consisted of four videos that we produced and that were posted online one at a time on Sparks Generation’s YouTube channel during four consecutive days. We got help from the youth-friendly influencer Penny Parnevik as well as Dag, a male yoga instructor. In the first video, Penny watches Dag demonstrate some basic yoga positions while trying them out herself at home. The three following videos each had a specific theme and consisted of Dag guiding the youths through a yoga session. Our choice of including Dag in the campaign was to show that yoga is an activity for both genders, and by that trying to contribute to SDG 10 “Reduced inequalities”. An online campaign week aiming to inspire and activate young people felt increasingly important during covid-19 when youths spend a lot of time at home in front of their screen.
