Joseph Monroe

PhD Student - Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology

After completing a Bachelor in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Toronto, he served for seven years as an Armoured Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. During this time, Joseph specialized in maneuver warfare strategy and leadership training. After completing an MBA at HEC Montreal, Joseph enrolled in the PhD programme at SSE. His thesis work examines the psychology of invention, knowledge recombination processes, and sustainable energy technology. Joseph co-teaches the flagship course Global Strategy in the CEMS Master program in International Management and has guest lectured in a variety of other courses. More broadly, his research interests include firm-level invention processes, techno-economic policy and the relationship between technological, economic, and social value.
