Outreach and Education
The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) has as its mission: ‘to support the Swedish globalized industry through research and scientifically based education’, and the initiative from Mistra to establish a Center for Sustainable Markets at SSE is a central and integral contribution to SSE’s mission.
MISUM’s three areas of activities are research, education and outreach. None of these pillars have supremacy, but activities within all these three pillars are to be developed in concert with each other.
SSE is the preeminent business school in Northern Europe. For a century, SSE has educated talented men and women for leading positions within business and the public sector. The alumni of the school are well represented in leading positions in many societal spheres. This is one reason why it is important to educate the future generations of leaders about sustainability.
Sustainability is to be an integral core of all education at Stockholm School of Economics. MISUM will provide teaching to the school in various disciplines and courses at all educational levels, in addition to specialized courses directly targeting sustainability issues. This website will be continuously updated with courses developed and taught by MISUM staff.
The SSE is the right home for MISUM to help influence decisions and actions toward sustainability by all market actors and to educate the next generation leaders to meet the challenges of tomorrow in a world that is resource and pollution constrained.”
Chairman of the Board MISUM, Former President of World Business Council for Sustainable Business
