How can financial systems be put to better work for the sustainable development of society?
Mistra Financial Systems (MFS) is a research program that has been developed in response to this question. With generous support from MISTRA (the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research), we aim to provide viable ideas for how financial systems can be put to work for the sustainable development of society. Through a total of 30 Research Projects, divided into five Work Packages, carried out by 50 researchers, and over a period of 4 years, we will investigate both possibilities and limitations for the financial sector to support the transition to sustainable societies. At Mistra Financial Systems, we understand “sustainable development” as the realization of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
