Innovation in service firms

A pilot study on the importance of business model development for service innovation

The main assumption in the project is that new innovations challenge companies’ existent business model, and are at the risk of creating value mainly to the customer due to existent structures and logics. For increased knowledge about the innovation-related development of business models, four different kinds of service innovation companies and their business models are investigated. An illustrative case will analyze a specific innovation to show how it relates to the need of business model development. The companies focused will be invited to take active part in the analysis of the empirical findings and discuss the results.
