Bustamante, Maria

Maria J. Bustamante is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Marketing and Strategy at the Stockholm School of Economics and also participates in a research group from the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). Her research focuses on how digital technologies are supporting the development of alternative forms of agriculture and new types of collaborations. Primarily drawing on innovation and market studies literature, Maria is exploring how both start-ups and incumbent firms are seeking to incorporate values such as sustainability and efficiency into the food system by establishing markets for path-breaking innovations.

Previously, Maria spent over a decade in the private sector in New York and Stockholm in roles including digital strategy, business development and economic development marketing. She has worked with a number of stakeholder groups including start-ups, regional economic development agencies, multi-nationals, investment professionals and governments to help build and promote communities for investment and talent.
