Cecilia Fredriksson is a PhD student in Business Administration at the Department of Management and Organization (DMO), Stockholm School of Economics, and at Stockholm Center for Organizational Research (SCORE).
Cecilia is working within the project Who is watching the watchdog? The construction of independence in the audit society. The four-year research program (2017–2020) is funded by Handelsbankens Forskningsstiftelser and is led by Kristina Tamm Hallström.
In her PhD thesis, with the preliminary title of 'Audit through state monopoly: the role of states, meta-organisation and independence within European accreditation auditing’, Cecilia is studying the organisation of independent auditing in a European perspective. The empirical focus lies on how accreditation organisations within European accreditation are organising independent auditing in light of the new legal framework of 2008. Theoretically, it investigates how organisational memberships (or meta-organisation as a form of organising where organisations are members in another organisation) and dependence on others impact organisational autonomy of members and ultimately the organisation of independent auditing.
