Morsing, Mette

Dr Mette Morsing is the Mistra Chair of Sustainable Markets and Scientific Director at Misum. She has been a professor at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) since 2007, where she was Founding Director of the CBS Center for Corporate Social Responsibility for 10 years. She also served as an Academic Director of the CBS Sustainability Platform.

Mette teaches sustainability management and corporate social responsibility in Executive Education at SSE and at PhD level.

Her research work is positioned in research traditions of governance, management scholarship and communication/media studies in the context of CSR and sustainability, drawing from research traditions of sociology, communication studies and management scholarship as well as other areas. 

She is a Member of the Board of Directors of the LEGO Foundation; the Claus Meyer Foundation: Melting Pot; Copenhagen Business School; and the International Advisory Board of the Amsterdam School of Communication Research at Amsterdam University. 

Her PhD in organization theory at Copenhagen Business School was awarded the Tietgen Gold Medal in 1993.

“Responsible business in the blogoshpere” (RBB) holds the official research title: “Measurement Systems for Ethical Capital in the Experience Economy. Socio-Economic Value of Online Communication” (2009-2014). 

“CSR in HR – an empirical investigation” is a research project investigating how the financial sector applies CSR in their competence development to attract and retain highly qualified managers and employees. 

“Strategic CSR Communication” is a research project exploring the corporate challenges as companies present themselves as ethical or moral entities towards external and internal audiences. “CSR-driven innovation” is one of the research projects in the Nordic Center for Corporate Responsibility. 

Chair of the research network “Nordic Center for Corporate Responsibility” (NCCR) - in collaboration with a network of Nordic academic partners from 5 business schools/universities: Stockholm School of Economics, Helsinki School of Management, Reykjavik University, BI Norwegian School of Management and CBS. 

Chair of the National Research Research Panel on “CSR in SMEs in Denmark”, as part of the People and Profit project which is funded by EUs Social Foundation and Agency for Employment, and headed by the Danish Agency for Commerce and Companies under the Danish Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

“The European Platform for CSR Excellence”. From 2004 till 2007. In collaboration with The European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), Cranfield School of Management, Warwick Business School, Insead, Esade, Leuven Gent, The Copenhagen Centre and efmd (European foundation for management development).
