Accounting students receive sustainability thesis prize
Two bachelor students in accounting and financial management, Anna Zhan and Josefin Halvarsson, have been awarded the thesis prize in Business Administration and Sustainability by the Research Institute for Sustainability and Ethics in Business (RiseB.se) at Umeå University. Anna and Josefin wrote their thesis "Corporate Social Responsibility and the Cost of Capital: Is CSR priced in the Swedish capital market?" under the supervision of Assistant Professor Florian Eugster in the spring of 2015. Congratulations Anna and Josefin!
Niclas Hellman receives grants from the Handelsbanken research foundations
Niclas Hellman, Acting Professor at the Department of Accounting, has received research grants from the Handelsbanken Research Foundations for his project “Vad styr företagens val och efterlevnad av redovisningsprinciper? Studier av effekter i samband med införandet av ny redovisningsnormering i Sverige". Congratulations Niclas!
ACE - the Accounting and Financial Management Center of Excellence - is launched!
ACE - the Accounting and Financial Management Center of Excellence - was officially launched on April 14 at an event in the auditorium at SSE. Part of the program was a panel discussion with Ingrid Bonde (CFO at Vattenfall), Johan Molin (CEO of AssaAbloy) and Henrik Nilsson (Acting Professor, SSE) on how to develop CFO talent for the future. Tomas Hjelström selected "Teacher of the Year" by the Executive MBA class of 2014
On April 9, Tomas Hjelström at the Department of Accounting was awarded the title "Teacher of the Year" by the Executive MBA class of 2014 which graduated this year. It is the sixth time that Tomas receives this distinction. Congratulations Tomas!

Master Thesis Award to Accounting Students
On November 23 two graduates of the Master Program in Accounting and Financial Management, Sebastian Anesten and Niclas Möller, were awarded the Söderberg Partner Prize for best master thesis in finance. Niclas and Sebastian wrote their thesis "Complex Parsimony in Equity Valuation – An Empirical Assessment of Model Design and the Incremental Effects of Complexity" under the supervision of Professor Kenth Skogsvik in the spring of 2015. Henning Christner Awarded Wallander Scholarship
Henning Christner, at the Department of Accounting, has been awarded the Wallander scholarship from Handelsbanken Forskningsstiftelser. Henning defended his thesis "The Valuable Organisation" on June 12. Congratulations Henning!

Research School in Accounting (FIRE)
With a two-day workshop at Kämpasten in October, the Research School in Accounting (FIRE) is now officially launched. This research school for ph.d-students is a joint collaboration between SSE, Stockholm University and Uppsala University. It is funded by Jan Wallander & Tom Hedelius’ Foundations and the Torsten Söderberg’s Foundation.
